Happy 2nd Birthday Cole!

I was given the honor of creating Cole Kim's 2nd birthday cake! Cole is the son of my 2 good friends (Kim & Peter). He decided to have a Halloween themed birthday party.

Tucker Belle's 1st Birthday!

Tucker Belle turns 1 year old on June 14th. The Pastrichs are in Chicago to celebrate (just a coincidence). I created a yellow cake with a layer of chocolate frosting in my new sheet cake pan.
Tucker Belle's famous pose is her frog stance and her ears are her signature characteristic:
'

So I carved the cake to abstractly represent her pose.

Happy Birthday sweet Tucker Belle!

Erin's Birthday Cake

Erin is celebrating her 35th birthday this year! We are celebrating with her in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend.
I learned how to make roses in my cake decorating class and haven't had an opportunity to try it - so figured now would be a good time.
It is a chocolate fudge cake with 2 layers of frosting - one is a peppermint cream made from scratch and the other is chocolate Hershey filling.

Baby Shower for Kavita

A friend at Sara Lee, Kavita, is expecting her first baby on July 7th (which also happens to be my birthday). We threw her a baby shower at work.
The main cake design was the Baby Bottle - using a Wilton baby bottle shaped pan. I took pictures along the way to show how it builds up to the final design.

With the remaining cake batter I created a second round cake:

I torte most of my cakes so I can put in a layer (or layers) of frosting.

Dave's 33rd Birthday

We headed to St. Louis to celebrate Dave's 33rd birthday. Dave is an avid Cubs fan and loves his black labrador, Cooper.
I decided to stay with the family favorite of 2 layers of yellow cake, 1 layer of chocolate cake and chocolate ganache filling. There were some consistency issues with the cake this time - slices didnt stay together as well - but still tasted delicious.

Erin's Goodbye Party

We were all very sad to say goodbye to Erin as she leaves Chicago to join Dave in St. Louis.
We celebrated at Greg Chen's home and sent her off with some yummy cake and cupcakes.

My Christmas cake was a hit so I decided to make the same recipe again. 2 layers of yellow cake and 1 layer of chocolate cake with chocolate (Ghiradelli) ganache filling.
